Location: Franklin Park (Chicago); this is one of Ferrero’s major North American plants, employing 700+ people and producing iconic products such as Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, and Nips.

The Quality Lab/Incoming Supervisor is a key functional and management position in the Ferrero Quality Organization. The role is responsible for overseeing the laboratory that executes microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensorial analysis for incoming materials, semi‑finished and finished products, and environmental testing. The position reports directly to the Head of Quality and manages a team of seven.

Responsibilities

Lead laboratory development and management, including defining analytical strategy in collaboration with the Plant Quality Manager and Central Laboratory.

Propose and manage new equipment and methodologies while controlling the associated budget.

Coordinate outsourced analysis and maintain strong relationships with external labs.

Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices and drive continuous improvement.

Provide technical coaching and support during implementation of new methods or troubleshooting.

Maintain safety programs and participate as a key member of the Food Safety Team.

Supervise the sampling program and scheduling to guarantee efficient execution of analyses.

Review analytical results, provide interpretations, and oversee material release or issue non‑conformance for incoming.

Generate trend analysis for the Quality Manager and recommend actions.

Ensure result accuracy and precision, participate in Ring Tests, and maintain stock status (hold, released, in inspection).

Manage team performance, training, scheduling, and yearly performance evaluations.

Support the development of each team member.

Qualifications

B.Sc. in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum 4 years in a Quality Lab Supervisor/Manager role within a food manufacturing plant.

Experience with Food Safety Systems, quality systems, and Good Laboratory Practices.

Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and GFSI standards (FSSC 22000, SQF, BRC). ISO 17025 expertise is a plus.

Strong people‑management skills and ability to lead teams.

Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills in a multicultural environment.

Proficient in laboratory analysis, data interpretation, and Microsoft Office; SAP proficiency is an advantage.

Compensation The base salary range for this position is $90,770 – $121,027 annually. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and other factors permitted by law.
