What You Will Do
Provide enterprise architecture services within the enterprise IT environment.
Provide a modernization of the agency’s IT infrastructure services, leveraging industry best practices, federal standards, and emerging technologies, developing strategies for improving system integration, interoperability, and security, ensuring the sustainability and scalability of the agency's IT systems, and assisting with the governance of EA through the development of an EA program management framework.
Support the transition to a modern IT environment that promotes cloud adoption, cybersecurity, and system interoperability.
Provide recommendations for portfolio optimization, including rationalization of applications and IT infrastructure.
Design and modernize the vast and complex IT ecosystem that supports the nation's nuclear security mission. This highly sensitive role involves striking a balance between the need for advanced, high-performance technology and stringent security, compliance, and cost‑effectiveness requirements.
Establish the As‑Built or As‑Is IT infrastructure from the aging infrastructure, fragmented systems, siloed operations, and security risks.
Modernize the physical network and infrastructure that connects multiple sites and labs.
Work closely with the EA and cybersecurity teams to integrate security principles from the ground up, ensuring compliance with federal security standards for both classified and unclassified systems.
Design and implement cloud strategies for efficiency and mission focus in multiple cloud environments (including classified networks).
Work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including site personnel, government officials, and external vendors.
Review vendor proposals and manage contractor experts to ensure all work aligns with architectural goals.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree in IT, enterprise architecture, or computer‑related field.
Active Top Secret (TS) or Q clearance required.
Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in IT architecture, often specializing in strategic planning, networking, and security.
Deep knowledge of designing and implementing safe, scalable, and resilient enterprise‑level infrastructure in both on‑premises and hybrid/multi‑cloud environments.
Extensive experience navigating federal cybersecurity directives, compliance frameworks (like NIST), and other government‑specific requirements.
A background in systems, networking, and cloud architecture, with certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is beneficial.
The ability to analyze complex requirements and develop long‑term technology roadmaps that support national security priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical staff, leadership, and external partners.
Training certificates in AWS, Azure, CISCO, or Google Cloud are expected.
What Would Be Nice To Have
Demonstrable FEA & DoDAF knowledge.
Experience with the latest DOE or NNSA IT Infrastructure environment in conjunction with the DoD IT environment.
The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00–$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
