Noise, Vibration, & Harshness (NVH) Division is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing and testing mixed-signal circuit board designs for embedded systems applications. This position is in Cary, NC with 4 days onsite and 1 day work from home schedule.
This position supports the development of electromechanical sensing and actuation systems in the following areas: active noise and vibration control, tactile feedback / steer-by-wire, and drive shaft torque sensing. The Electrical Engineering team works closely with the Systems and Software Engineering teams to develop, qualify, and certify these technologies as products for customers in aerospace and industrial markets. The individual will have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
Design and analyze mixed-signal circuit boards incorporating microcontroller hardware, analog components, and switching power supplies, including knowledge in the following areas:
Document schematic design and circuit simulation/analysis using tools such as OrCAD, SPICE, and Mathcad
Work closely with circuit board layout specialists to realize schematic circuit designs in hardware
Collaborate with embedded system/software engineers to integrate hardware and software components
Utilize lab testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and metering equipment for design validation and troubleshooting
Develop test methods and procedures to evaluate hardware performance, including acceptance and functional testing
Perform EMI/EMC testing and functional testing at hardware and electromechanical product level
Participate in design reviews and contribute to process improvement activities to ensure designs meet industry standards
Interact with customers to support design reviews and system integration
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
8+ years of experience in electronic hardware design
Familiarity with analog and digital signal processing, power electronics, and embedded systems
Strong technical aptitude with analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work in a team environment, cultivate strong relationships, and demonstrate initiative
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field
Working knowledge of common digital communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN)
Proficiency in circuit design tools such as OrCAD, SPICE simulation tools, and Mathcad
Experience managing requirements using DOORS or DOORS Next Gen (DNG)
Experience with FPGA design and programming
Familiarity with electronic hardware certification requirements such as DO-254 and/or IEC 61508
Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ARP4761 and IEC 61508.
