Position Description This position provides logistical support to Special Events and other operations departments of the Museum during the evening and overnight hours, weekends and some daytime. Duties include setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, overseeing vendor and client activities, managing the loading dock, and protecting the museum’s physical assets. The role is part‑time; the successful candidate will need a flexible schedule (early‑morning, late‑evening, overnight, weekends). For hours worked from midnight to 6:00 am, compensation will include a night differential.

Duties And Responsibilities

Act as liaison with the General Services Administration and all other building tenants, including building engineers and security guards, to ensure museum events run smoothly.

Oversee all client and vendor activities throughout the load‑in, event, and load‑out periods to ensure museum and building procedures are consistently followed.

Ensure protection of the National Building Museum and building by conducting thorough pre‑ and post‑event inspections and reporting damages to Operations staff for billing and repairs.

Coordinate with NBM staff for internal program and event setup, breakdown, and logistical coordination.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have 1 year of event experience.

Ability to multitask while maintaining complex load‑in/load‑out schedules and managing events.

Strong problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a professional setting.

Fluent English required; ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.

High school diploma; facility or office management experience is ideal.

Event logistics experience is required.

Experience operating A/V equipment is a strong plus.

Professional and courteous demeanor.

Basic computer competency.

Basic knowledge of setting up and operating DVD, LCD projector, and sound equipment.

Available and capable of working a shift of 10+ hours.

Ability to lift up to 75 lb and frequently push, pull, and move equipment and fixtures.
