This role is accountable for merchandising and inventory management, pet care operations, opening and/or closing the store, leading associates, financial outcomes and maintaining a safe and organized environment. Essential Responsibilities

People Leadership: Participates in employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, and coaching; facilitates the associate experience and development; onboarding, associate reviews, labor management, mentoring, succession planning, and coaching for accountability; address and administer associate complaints and grievances; prioritize, delegate, and validate daily tasks; lead and coach associates on proper operational processes to ensure pets in our care are safe and healthy; coordinate staffing coverage for store processes; validate completion of operational messages and engagement video compliance; effectively communicate company information and priorities to associates; recognize and celebrate associate engagement. Overall Store Experience: Accountable for and oversees healthcare of store-owned pets, inventory management and pricing processes, including inventory accuracy, receiving, stocking, counts, product rotations and planner/planogram sets; evaluate operations and seek opportunities to improve experiences and services; maintain vendor relationships, backroom standards, and communication boards; oversee Buy Online/Pick Up In Store and Ship From Store processes; identify and react to sales trends; make sound merchandising decisions; maintain store standards and ensure compliance with Policies & Procedures and Code of Ethics; ensure a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents; take action when a sick/injured pet is identified; assist with opening and closing procedures and respond to pet parent concerns. Expense Management: Drives opportunities to grow the business and holds associates accountable for store P&L targets; analyzes inventory management reporting to identify trends and root causes; manages expenses such as labor and supplies; collaborates with Home Office for store-related work orders and purchase card allocation. Qualifications: 3+ years of retail leadership or experience in a customer-focused environment; full-time availability; flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; proficiency in computer applications; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to react under pressure and maintain composure; strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in store presentation. Supervisory Responsibility: Typically oversees up to three lead associates and up to forty non-leader associates; responsible for employment decisions and associate development. Physical Demands & Work Environment: Stand, walk, climb a ladder; handle, feel, lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 100 pounds occasionally; may be exposed to moving parts, pet hair, noise, and live animals; reasonable accommodations provided as needed.
