Supervisor, Security (ROPH-22019) – Rush Oak Park Hospital

Location: Oak Park, Illinois Business Unit: Rush Oak Park Department: Security Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (8 hr) Pay Range: $27.47 – $43.27 per hour Work Type: Full-Time (0.9–1.0 FTE)

Summary Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Security and/or the appropriate designee, the supervisor directs subordinate officer personnel, maintains maximum security for patients, visitors, employees, and students of Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), reports and documents infractions of rules, regulations, and policies of RUMC, and exemplifies Rush’s mission, vision, and I-CARE values. The Security Supervisor must act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Other Information

Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred or 5 years of relevant work experience/field experience.

Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare, law enforcement or corporate security environment preferred.

Must possess a valid driver’s license (IL, IN or WI) and have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to ROPH based on Human Resources’ Motor Vehicle Report check.

Must have Illinois Department of Professional Regulations Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) day one of employment.

Must possess or obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification at the “Basic” and “Supervisory” levels within 6 months of hire and maintain thereafter.

Physical Demands Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not the entire, tour of duty and withstand weather extremes for external assignments. The role requires physical ability to perform required responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Assumes command and supervision of security officers on a daily basis.

Inspects posts and observes the efficiency of personnel assigned.

Conducts liaison between the security department and other ROPH entities.

Trains, evaluates, and disciplines subordinate personnel.

Participates in the recruitment and interview process of security officers.

Performs dispatch duties as required.

Generates and reviews various administrative documents, including but not limited to daily work schedules, payroll, audits, and drills.

Monitors and reports infractions of rules, policies and procedures; makes appropriate recommendations to the Director of Security or designee for corrective action.

Conducts investigations as directed and/or required.

Assists local police agencies during investigations or emergencies.

Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by departmental need.

Exhibits intelligence, emotional stability, unquestionable moral character, integrity, and the ability to handle confidential matters.

Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.

Prioritizes workload efficiently.

Works various shifts including weekends as assignments dictate.

Delivers outstanding customer service skills.

All other duties as assigned.
