Underwriter/Broker - Wholesale Insurance Risk Placement Services, Inc. is a wholesale insurance brokerage. We design robust coverage for clients by partnering with top-rated carriers. This role is a sales-facing underwriting position that provides Retail Agents with responsive underwriting capability and access to national markets through carrier relationships.

Overview Base pay range: $108,000.00/yr - $210,500.00/yr. This range is provided by Risk Placement Services, Inc. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

Prospect for new business by networking and building relationships with Independent Retail Agents to achieve production goals.

Pre-qualify submissions and focus on high-probability sales opportunities, while following Carrier guidelines to maintain a profitable book of business.

Develop and maintain deep expertise on insurance solutions for specific product lines, industry segments and business types.

Analyze submissions from Retail Agents to determine the best available Carrier, coverage, forms and premium.

Gather information on client risks and determine potential areas of exposure RPS could quote.

Stay informed on industry and market trends that impact underwriting guidelines, pricing and premiums.

Ensure business partners understand RPS’ full range of risk solutions as their needs evolve.

May be assigned a support team to lead, train and oversee work product.

Able to travel as needed.

About You Required: Bachelor's degree, 1 year related experience, and appropriate insurance licensing; OR Bachelor's degree, participation in Gallagher's Sales Internship Program (GSIP), and appropriate insurance licensing; OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of experience.

Preferred: Professional designation may be preferred, including CEBS, CPCU, CIC or ARM.

Behaviors: Act independently with minimal direction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
