Overview
Provide leadership support and direction during primetime hours (3p-7p M-F; 11a-7p Sat/Sun) to drive sales and enhance the customer experience. Partner with the store leader and department leader to develop a high-performance culture where associates are aligned to the business strategy and receive the knowledge and training needed to deliver a consistently great experience for Every Customer, Every Time. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Based in Portland, Oregon, Fred Meyer merged with The Kroger Company in 1998 and now serves Fred Meyer customers in over 120 stores throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership support and direction during primetime hours to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
Partner with the store leader and department leader to develop a high-performance culture where associates are aligned to the business strategy and receive training to deliver a great experience for Every Customer, Every Time.
Model and reinforce company values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Ensure effective communication of department goals and expectations and support associates in achieving targets.
Qualifications Minimum
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to handle stressful situations
Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
Desired
High School Diploma or GED
Any produce or retail experience
Any management experience
Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) – promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude; communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates
Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork
Ensure orders are put up in a timely manner, work backstock, rotate product and replenish throughout the day
Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process
Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome by answering questions, making suggestions, and locating products
Inform customers of produce specials and offer product samples to help customers discover new items
Ensure merchandising standards are followed; review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions
Ensure in-stock behaviors are being executed daily
Implement the period promotional plan for the department
Ensure hourly conditioning is taking place so products are kept fresh and displays are clean
Maintain clean backroom and prep areas and apply 5S practices
Support morning readiness through effective close procedures
Plan and organize the inventory process, monitor inventory/stocking conditions, note discrepancies, and train associates on inventory/stocking and CAO
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents
Report safety risks or issues, and illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud
Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
