Position: Senior or Principal Safety and Airworthiness Engineer to provide system safety engineering for the BGS Commercial Modifications and Conversions portfolio based in Long Beach, CA. The Boeing Global Services - Commercial (BGS-C) Safety Team seeks to oversee safety initiatives across all commercial programs, including the 737, 767, 777, and 787 aircraft, and to ensure modifications meet the highest safety and reliability standards.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive safety strategies aligned with Boeing's commitment to safety and innovation.

Position Responsibilities

Conducts system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantify impact.

Identify safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporate into designs, operations, and procedures.

Perform or review tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify the system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.

Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.

Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, and validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.

Develop and maintain safety and corrective action plans.

Assist with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.

Ensure mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.

Contribute to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited program.

3+ years of experience in Commercial Modifications and Conversions processes.

3+ years of experience in Commercial System Safety Engineering processes (including FMEA, Fault Tree, SSA, Certification Plans, and Zonal Analysis).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience presenting data to customers, suppliers, and program/site leaders.

Experience in commercial aerospace safety processes is highly preferred; defense aerospace safety processes will also be considered.

Pay is based on experience and market factors. Summary pay ranges: Senior $128,350 - $173,650; Principal $157,250 - $212,750. Applications accepted until Oct 24, 2025.
