The Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on engineering design documents and deliverables for systems and components related to the substation and renewable energy SCADA systems. This role provides oversight and leadership of engineering work, and the opportunity to teach other engineers fundamental SCADA concepts.

Responsibilities

Work directly with the project team to generate engineering design documents and deliverables for systems and components related to the substation and renewable energy SCADA systems.

Provide oversight and lead engineering work, as well as teach other engineers fundamental SCADA concepts.

Coordinate SCADA project work for timely execution.

Provide client’s recommended solutions based on standards, best practices and industry trends.

Develop control system network architecture diagrams, datalink points list, control narratives, control logic diagrams, protection and control drawings, and procurement specifications for SCADA equipment.

Provide remote support to the field construction team on troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Perform quality assurance checks, man hour estimates, factory acceptance testing, cyber security auditing, and commissioning support at sites or remotely.

Develop standards and specify equipment part numbers for project work and for project proposals.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Substation and renewable energy experience (wind, solar, battery energy storage) preferred.

Experience with IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC UA, and other control system protocols over TCP/IP or serial.

Experience with virtualization and HMI software platforms (e.g., VMware, FactoryTalk ME/SE, Ignition, AVEVA HMI, CIMPLICITY, etc.).

Experience with protective relays, substation and renewable energy automation systems; SEL RTAC/IED architecture design and configuration.

Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC configuration.

Experience with NERC-CIP cyber security standards and OT network design.

Strong network troubleshooting skills and familiarity with tools such as Wireshark, Modbus Poll, etc.

Experience with Excel macros and VBA is a plus.

Work Environment and Schedule

This position may require office work and site visits, with possible physical tasks such as crouching, grasping, and standing/walking during site visits.

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, per manager discretion and performance.

Primary SCADA team locations: Overland Park, KS; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; candidates near these offices will be considered.
