This opportunity will be with Tools for Humanity. The Devices team is responsible for driving and coordinating all aspects of new product introduction—from concept prototypes to mass production. As a Supplier Industrialization Engineer, you will work on a high-impact product and partner with industry-leading peers in economics, on-device machine learning, cryptographic research and hardware design. This role scales the supply chain from prototype to high-volume, global production and serves as a technical bridge between design engineering, GSM and suppliers, applying DFM/DFA, driving quality assurance, tooling development and manufacturing line bring-up. This foundational role builds strategic technical and quality partnerships with suppliers and defines scalable, efficient processes. Travel to suppliers globally up to 30-50% of the time is required. Responsibilities
Play a critical role in strategic supplier selection and development alongside contract manufacturers; audit, qualify and onboard global suppliers for electromechanical and optical assemblies as needed Evaluate supplier capability to support automation, tight tolerance control, cosmetic requirements and consistent quality in prototyping and full-rate production; execute supplier ramp strategies Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define supplier success criteria to meet design, quality, yield, throughput and cost goals Partner with the GSM team on manufacturing cost modeling, evaluation and negotiation through bottoms-up cost analysis, cycle time studies and optimization Own quality systems standards, evaluation and improvement with suppliers Lead development and review of pFMEA, SPC and process control documentation with suppliers; own yield targets and improvement Lead Design of Experiments (DOE) and Gage R&R studies with internal and supplier teams to validate process capability for key assemblies Analyze manufacturing trends, monitor yield, and drive defect reduction using root cause and corrective action Apply DFM/DFA early in design with a focus on scalable processes and cosmetic requirements Work with operations teams to gather/analyze data, identify root causes and implement supplier solutions to field issues Collaborate with engineering teams to implement robust End-of-Line (EOL) testing strategies Conduct automation strategy reviews and manufacturing line bring-up with contract manufacturers and suppliers Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Supplier Industrialization, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering for electromechanical and optical assemblies in consumer electronics or similar high-throughput industries; camera module and/or image sensor manufacturing experience is a plus Bachelor’s or Master’s in a technical field (mechanical, industrial, electrical) preferred; equivalent practical experience considered Proven track record taking products from concept to mass production with hands-on experience across Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT and MP stages Strong understanding of fixture design, tooling development, and DFM Proficiency in GD&T and 3D CAD tools Experience with EOL testing and in-process inspection systems; active alignment and camera module EOL/calibration experience is a plus Data-driven mindset with proficiency in statistics (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python) to drive root cause and quality tracking Strong supplier relationship skills based on trust and mutual respect Effective cross-functional communication; capable of leading discussions across engineering, operations and supplier teams Hands-on, solution-oriented with ability to meet daily supply and quality demands while aligning with broad product strategy Fluency in English; Mandarin or German is a plus What we offer
