This is a full‑time on‑site role for a

Digital Reactor Systems Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with deep expertise in digital instrumentation, control systems, and reactor operations who are passionate about developing the next generation of safe and reliable nuclear technology.

Role Overview You will work closely with our cross‑functional team—including nuclear, mechanical, and electrical engineers—to lead the design, development, and implementation of the

digital instrumentation and control (I&C)

and

reactor protection systems (RPS)

for Hadron’s micro modular reactor. This role is critical for ensuring the safe, autonomous, and efficient operation of our reactor, from sensor integration and control logic development to system simulation and verification.

Qualifications & Skillsets

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in

Nuclear Engineering ,

Electrical Engineering ,

Computer Engineering , or a related field

5+ years of experience in

digital instrumentation and controls (I&C)

design and implementation, preferably for nuclear or other safety‑critical systems

Proficiency in

control systems design ,

modeling , and

simulation

using tools like

MATLAB/Simulink

Experience with

digital I&C platforms

such as Field‑Programmable Gate Arrays ( FPGAs ) and Programmable Logic Controllers ( PLCs )

Strong understanding of

reactor dynamics ,

control theory , and

reactor protection system

architecture

Knowledge of

nuclear safety standards

and

regulatory frameworks

for digital I&C (e.g., IEEE Std 7-4.3.2, NRC regulatory guides)

Experience with

software and hardware verification and validation (V&V)

processes

Familiarity with

cybersecurity

for industrial control systems is a plus

Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills

Passion for clean energy and a startup‑minded approach to problem‑solving
