The Consumer IT Application Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing software applications that support banking, payments, and other financial operations. This role ensures solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals, often working with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust systems. You will lead technical and design discussions with IT executives to accelerate technology adoption and build highly scalable applications using a combination of on‑premises, microservices and serverless architecture.
Responsibilities
Design and Implementation: Lead high‑level to low‑level design, development, and implementation of software applications, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
Architecture Governance: Establish and enforce architecture guidelines and principles across the organization.
Collaboration: Work closely with product teams, business analysts, development teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Integration: Architect and oversee integrations with third‑party vendors, cloud services (AWS, Azure), and internal systems.
Security & Compliance: Ensure application security, especially for payments and PCI‑related functions, and maintain compliance with financial regulations.
Documentation: Develop and maintain architectural models, documentation, and guidelines.
Continuous Improvement: Review existing architectures, suggest improvements, and stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years in application architecture, with significant exposure to financial services or banking environments.
Technical Expertise: Mobile/web technologies (iOS, Android, NodeJS), APIs, integration tools (iPaas, API Gateway), and low‑code SaaS platform (e.g. Outsystems, Appian, Mendix) preferred.
Security: Understanding of application security, especially for financial transactions and regulatory compliance.
Leadership: Proven ability to mentor individuals, drive technical discussions, and manage vendor relationships.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
