Professional Duties and Teaching Cal Poly Humboldt invites applicants for a full-time, academic-year, tenure-track faculty position with an emphasis in Immunology and Hematology. Instructional assignments may include Immunology, Hematology, and Principles of Biology. In year two, courses may include BIOL 340 Genetics, BIOL 350 Cell Biology, BIOL 440 Genetics Laboratory, BIOL 450 Cell Biology Laboratory, BIOL 455 Cellular and Gene Therapy, ZOOL 312 Human Physiology, and/or ZOOL 270 Human Anatomy, depending on expertise. Teaching load and assignments will align with department needs and probationary timelines. The primary responsibilities are teaching, research, scholarship, service, advising, and campus/community engagement, with mentorship during the probationary period and reduced teaching load in early years to support research.
Qualifications Minimum qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. or equivalent in Immunology, Hematology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences or related field at appointment time. Candidates must demonstrate:
Training or experience in immunology, hematology, or related biomedical field
Teaching excellence or potential for a student-centered learning environment
Ability to conduct and publish original research in peer-reviewed journals
Record of undergraduate/graduate teaching
Commitment to diverse student populations and inclusive teaching
Potential for an active research program with external support at a primarily undergraduate institution
Experience with diverse student/research populations
Knowledge addressing issues facing students from diverse backgrounds
Involvement of students in research and scholarly activity
Preferred qualifications:
Teaching effectiveness in undergraduate immunology and hematology
Established extramurally funded research program in immunology or hematology
Commitment to professional development in inclusion and diversity
Rank, Salary and Benefits We seek to fill the position at Assistant Professor rank; rank and salary depend on qualifications. Salary range: $74,652 - $158,688; anticipated starting salary: $80,000.
