About the Position This position is located at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Camp Pendleton, CA.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Duties

Serve as the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team leader.

Function as a recognized technical authority providing comprehensive outpatient care for TRICARE Prime enrolled beneficiaries as well as TRICARE for Life and space available beneficiaries.

Formulate full treatment and management regimens based on sound diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

Coordinate with facility and community resources to provide multi-disciplinary comprehensive care to all patients.

Provide clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team.

Actively participate and contribute to medical oversight activities to include peer review programs.

Participate in local disaster training exercises as directed by the Chief of the Medical Staff (SGH) or Medical Group Commander.

Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Required to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.

This position requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment.
