Project Architect (Student Housing & Higher Education Studio) Lawrence Group is a place for dreamers. This role supports growing Higher Education project needs in the St. Louis office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, project management, and a track record of delivering student housing and higher education projects from concept through completion. Lawrence Group is a building design, development, and project delivery firm with offices in St. Louis, Austin, Florida, and New York. We offer architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, furniture procurement, and graphic design services to a wide variety of clients, including housing, hospitality, healthcare, academic, and retail. Responsibilities

Assist in the design and development of student housing and higher education projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and requirements, and translate them into innovative design solutions that exceed expectations.

Collaborate with project teams, including architects, designers, engineers, and consultants, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

Conduct site visits, assessments, and analysis to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Prepare and present design concepts, drawings, renderings, and presentations to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.

Lead the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and bid packages, and coordinate with contractors and vendors during the construction phase.

Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, and proactively identify and address any issues or risks that may impact project outcomes.

Foster a creative and collaborative work environment, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of architectural processes and practices.

Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to hospitality design, sustainability, and building performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.

Licensed Architect with 5-10 years of experience in design and architecture preferred.

Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to completion.

Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.

Strong design sensibility and a portfolio showcasing innovative and creative student housing and higher education projects.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams.

Proven leadership abilities, with experience leading project teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards related to higher education design, as well as sustainable design principles and practices.

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and analytically.

LEED accreditation and/or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility This position may lead and mentor staff if assigned.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.

Physical Demands This position requires no minimum ability to lift, bend or stand.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary.

Travel Moderate travel is expected for this position.
