Project Architect (Student Housing & Higher Education Studio)
Lawrence Group, a building design and project delivery firm headquartered in St. Louis, is seeking a Project Architect to support our growing Higher Education project needs in the St. Louis office.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design and development of student housing and higher education projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Collaborate with clients to understand goals and requirements, translating them into innovative design solutions that exceed expectations.
Coordinate with project teams—including architects, designers, engineers, and consultants—to ensure effective communication, coordination, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct site visits, assessments, and analysis to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Prepare and present design concepts, drawings, renderings, and presentations to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Lead the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and bid packages, and coordinate with contractors and vendors during the construction phase.
Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, proactively identifying and addressing any issues or risks that may impact project outcomes.
Mentor junior staff, foster a creative and collaborative work environment, and contribute to continuous improvement of architectural processes and practices.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to sustainability and building performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
Licensed Architect with 5-10 years of experience in design and architecture preferred.
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to completion.
Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
Strong design sensibility and a portfolio showcasing innovative and creative student housing and higher education projects.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven leadership abilities, experience leading project teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards related to higher education design, sustainable design principles, and practices.
Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
LEED accreditation and/or other relevant certifications are a plus.
Other Details This is a full‑time, hybrid schedule position based in St. Louis, MO. Moderate travel is expected.
