Senior Tax Counsel - Energy & Infrastructure Investments
Location: New York, NY Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Work Model: Hybrid - 3-4 days per week in office (preference for 5)

About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Counsel to play a key role in supporting high-value M&A and financing transactions across a growing energy investment portfolio. The position sits within the corporate legal team and will work closely with the firm's investment professionals, finance, and senior leadership.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned transactional attorney with a strong understanding of corporate, M&A, and financing structures, and ideally some exposure to renewables or infrastructure project finance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead tax-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions, including deal structuring, due diligence, and documentation.
Support and execute financing transactions, including debt refinancings and corporate restructurings.
Partner with internal teams - finance, regulatory, accounting, and investor relations - to ensure efficient and compliant transaction execution.
Assist in preparing materials for investment committee meetings.
Provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance to senior stakeholders on legal and commercial risk.
Manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications
JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
Admitted to the New York Bar (or eligible for admission).
6-10 years' experience in corporate or tax law, ideally within a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department.
Strong background in M&A, private equity, or project finance transactions.
Deep understanding of how tax incentives, equity structures, and financing mechanisms affect project economics.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
Proven ability to balance legal rigor with commercial pragmatism.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience with renewable energy, energy transition, or infrastructure deals.
Familiarity with tax equity, energy credits, and incentive-based financing structures.
Previous in-house experience or secondment within the energy or infrastructure investment space.
