Senior Legal Recruiter Energy & Infrastructure Law @ Talisman General Counsel- Tax Equity

Overview A rapidly scaling clean energy finance business is seeking a senior legal professional to oversee complex tax equity and structured investment transactions. The company partners with leading investors and developers to streamline renewable energy financing across multiple asset classes.

Role Summary The General Counsel – Tax Equity will serve as the lead legal advisor for all structured investments and tax equity transactions within the clean energy sector, ensuring alignment across commercial, legal, and regulatory frameworks that support the energy transition. Reporting to the Head of Investments, this role will design and execute complex renewable financing structures while managing external counsel and driving consistency across deal execution. The ideal candidate will bring a deep experience in clean energy tax equity, with a track record advising on partnership‑flip structures, investor negotiations, and federal incentive programs under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Key Responsibilities

Structure, negotiate, and close tax equity and hybrid clean energy investments across multiple technologies and jurisdictions.

Lead diligence, governance, and compliance processes for ongoing transactions and portfolio assets.

Develop and refine transaction playbooks, templates, and internal frameworks to scale clean energy financing efficiently.

Manage external counsel and ensure transactions meet all federal, state, and ESG‑driven regulatory standards.

Advise senior leadership on evolving IRA, SEC, and Treasury guidance impacting renewable finance structures.

Mentor investment professionals and collaborate across cross‑functional teams to integrate legal and commercial strategy.

Qualifications

J.D. with 12–15+ years of experience in clean energy, renewable project finance, or structured investments.

Deep expertise in tax equity and partnership‑flip structures specific to renewable assets (solar, wind, storage, and emerging technologies).

Strong working knowledge of IRA‑related clean energy incentives, including credit transferability and direct pay mechanisms.

Demonstrated ability to advise institutional investors, sponsors, and developers in the clean energy space on complex capital structures.

Familiarity with broker‑dealer, securities, and compliance frameworks (FINRA SIE, Series 79/63 a plus).

Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills, with a mission‑driven focus on advancing decarbonization and sustainable infrastructure.

Compensation

Short Term Incentive:

Base Salary: $350K–$400K + 50‑60% Bonus tied to deal volume and overall team performance
