Lawrence University invites applications for the position of Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to guide our swim and dive programs while also serving as Director of Aquatics for the university. The head coach will lead all aspects of the program, including recruiting, student‑athlete development, competitive success, and alignment with Lawrence’s academic mission. The role also supports campus and community engagement through leadership of Lawrence’s aquatics facilities.

Responsibilities

Recruiting and retaining student-athletes who fit Lawrence University’s mission, and creating the culture for the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams.

Abiding by the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Midwest Conference, and Lawrence University.

Planning, communicating, and executing all aspects of the NCAA Division III men’s and women’s swim and dive programs.

Organizing and conducting practice sessions.

Managing all meet execution, operations, and scheduling, and maintaining meet contracts.

Overseeing the academic progress of student-athletes, developing graduation plans, and ensuring academic accountability throughout the academic year.

Collaborating with the Director of Athletics for scheduling and budgeting, preparing a zero-based operational budget, and monitoring fiscal accountability.

Working with the Compliance Director on eligibility and compliance regulations.

Ordering equipment and supplies in accordance with athletics department and university policies.

Managing inventory of university-owned equipment and uniforms, and issuing/retrieving items for student-athletes.

Enhancing professional growth by attending clinics and workshops.

Collaborating with the Sports Information Director for team pictures, publicity, and statistics reporting to the conference and media.

Coordinating with the Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine representative as needed.

Arranging team travel, including reservations for vehicles, hotels, and meals well in advance.

Completing travel arrangements forms prior to departures and communicating with athletics administration regarding student-athlete travel.

Engaging alumni, student groups, university administration, and community groups to seek support for the team.

Hiring and scheduling lifeguards.

Working with campus facilities services to manage and maintain the pool.

Assisting with game day management of the assigned sport.

Performing any other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Working Relationships Work collaboratively with all members of the Athletics team, staff, faculty, and the Lawrence community, including vendors, students, and parents.

Required Qualifications

3–5 years of successful collegiate-level coaching experience.

Lifeguard certification.

Established recruiting experience.

Bachelor’s degree.

First aid and AED certification before conducting athletics-related activities.

Employment Requirements Must complete successful criminal and MVR background checks, meet University Authorized Driver Policy requirements, and obtain favorable reference checks.
