Position Purpose The Technical Advisor – Water/Wastewater plays a vital role in the Municipal Water Contract Operations (MWCO) Growth organization. Within the Customer Solutions group, the advisor works closely with business development teams to develop compelling, coherent, and competitive offers for municipal O&M clients, bridging technical expertise with client engagement to deliver best-in-class solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Solution Design
Act as trusted advisor to municipal clients, uncovering operational, financial, and strategic needs.
Collaborate with business developers to shape client-centric solutions aligned with Veolia’s Professional Operations value proposition.
Lead the development of tailored solution roadmaps, outlining the partnership journey over time.
Offer Structuring & Packaging
Translate client needs into structured, market-ready offers with clear scope, KPIs, resourcing, and business model.
Work with Business Development and Operations to ensure offers are comprehensive, competitive, and implementation-ready.
Serve as subject-matter expert in client meetings and proposal settings, articulating the value story.
Innovation & Growth
Identify opportunities to incorporate new technologies, business models, and operational innovations into client offers.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitor positioning, and emerging client needs.
Contribute to Veolia’s growth machine by continuously refining and standardizing offers for scalability.
Internal Collaboration
Mentor and support business developers in integrating solutions into sales engagements.
Share best practices and build an offer library for MWCO.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, environmental, or process), Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: 8–12 years in municipal utility operations, water/wastewater services, engineering consulting, or related field; prior client-facing technical solution experience.
Skills: Proven track record in developing and delivering client solutions; strong technical background in water/wastewater processes; strong business acumen, structured problem solving, and developing business cases; consultative, client-centered communication.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Track record of delivering client solutions in technical services or infrastructure contexts.
Technical expertise in water/wastewater process and municipal utility consulting.
Financial literacy and strategic thinking for developing business cases and KPIs.
Ability to structure and package differentiating service offerings.
Excellent presentation and storytelling skills.
Collaborative, influential, comfortable working across technical, commercial and client-facing teams.
Required Certifications and Licenses
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Engineering and/or operator certification or equivalent technical qualification (highly valued).
Pay Range $130,000 – $190,000 per year.
