Bill Rate Target:
$100 - 110/hr DL Target (W2):
$60 - 70/hr
Overview The County of San Diego has outsourced all of their IT and Applications Development/Support to Peraton through 2028. Peraton builds and supports mission‑critical GIS solutions for the County and is migrating ArcGIS from on‑prem to the cloud (AWS, EC2). The CTO wants to complete the project sooner than originally planned, so Peraton will be doubling the team size from two to four. Therefore, they are hiring a Developer and a Systems Administrator (the IDEAL candidate would be a Developer who can also handle Systems Administration duties, but this is not required).
Job Duties
Support the migration of ArcGIS from on‑prem to AWS EC2
Assist in the migration of infrastructure to AWS, including configuration, deployment, and performance tuning of cloud‑hosted services
Manage and optimize Windows Server instances—patching, performance tuning, IIS configuration, and certificate management
Develop and maintain Python scripts and PowerShell utilities for system automation, deployment tasks, and monitoring
Collaborate with GIS developers and stakeholders to align infrastructure with application needs and provide technical support
Administer and support Esri ArcGIS enterprise application
Monitor system health and performance; identify and resolve outages, latency issues, and service disruptions
Analyze system resource utilization and implement performance enhancements to support high user concurrency
Implement security controls and backup strategies consistent with AWS and IT best practices; manage SSL certificates, apply patches, and ensure secure configurations
Support spatial database environments (SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS); ensure data integrity and efficient access
Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
