Responsibilities
Review compliance payments and reconcile to payable accounts, ensuring all liabilities are accurately paid.
Prepare and file compliance returns, including business licenses, gross receipts tax, personal property tax, Puerto Rico withholding, and sales/use tax returns.
Ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted timely to avoid penalties.
Review third-party completed sales/use tax and property tax returns for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure compliance with administrative policies, state regulations, and accepted accounting practices.
Assist with sales tax audit requests and appeals in coordination with business units, customers, third-party consultants, and state auditors.
Pull and request exemption certificates as required by specific state regulations.
Perform tax research and document tax positions.
Provide excellent customer service by responding to internal and external inquiries, including sales tax emails within 48 hours.
Identify and implement process improvements within the Indirect Tax department.
Create and maintain desktop procedures for assigned tasks.
Meet internal and external deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting.
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in Sales and Use Tax across multiple states.
Knowledge of SOX controls, compliance, and GAAP accounting principles.
Experience with Business Intelligence/Business Warehouse tools.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Charts).
Strong digital literacy, including Excel, ERP systems (SAP/JDE), and tax software (Onesource, Sabrix, Vertex).
