What We’re Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking qualified candidates for the Park Services Worker position in the Parks Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. Primary duties include semi-skilled and skilled gardening, building, landscaping and turf maintenance, repairing grounds areas, and operating a variety of grounds equipment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, park maintenance, and/or irrigation systems. Responsibilities
Maintain planting, grounds, recreation areas and medians to conform to City standards. Water, weed, trim, seed, renovate and fertilize turf, shrubs, trees and flower beds to City standards. Rake leaves, clean walkways and fields, and load trimmings into trucks to meet City standards. Spade and prepare ground around plants and shrubs; mix and apply fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides. Perform general grounds cleaning and maintain athletic fields. Operate vehicles used to transport materials, tools and equipment as required. Assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment. Operate mowing equipment, tractors, trenchers and a variety of hand and power tools used in park and landscape maintenance. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience. Possession of a valid California driver’s license. Must possess valid First Aid and CPR certificates or obtain within 60 days of hire. Knowledge Of
Safe work practices. Basic instruction and repair. Plant and turf pests and diseases and methods for control and eradication. Proper and effective use of grounds maintenance tools, equipment and materials. Skill In
Performing grounds maintenance work. Operating a full range of light and heavy equipment used in landscape maintenance. Mixing and applying herbicides. Performing heavy manual labor. Working effectively with others. Additional Information
