Location: In-Person Tutoring in Chino, CA.
Schedule: 2 sessions a week for 1.15 to 1.5 hours.
Pay: $25 to $35 per hour.
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Chino, CA.
About the Role As a tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one‑on‑one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Ideal Candidate
English and Spanish bilingual (required)
Minimum 2 years of experience working with students with intellectual disabilities or nonverbal learners
Background in special education, speech support, or related field strongly preferred
Familiarity with AAC devices and alternative communication strategies
Comfortable implementing behavior strategies and engaging students who may show resistance to learning tasks
Ability to build rapport and make learning activities fun, personalized, and accessible
Collaborative with families and open to feedback to support carryover of learning strategies at home
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualized instruction in early literacy skills, including phonics, sight word recognition, and basic reading comprehension.
Support foundational math skills, such as number identification, counting, and beginning addition/subtraction with visual aids and manipulatives.
Incorporate the student’s AAC device into lessons to support communication and comprehension.
Assist with early writing skills, including name writing and fine motor development, in coordination with occupational therapy goals.
Use puzzles, coloring, sports themes (e.g., baseball), and other student interests to build engagement and motivation.
Offer scheduled outdoor or movement breaks to help the student stay focused during sessions.
Establish consistent routines and use visual cues to help reduce resistance to academic tasks in the home setting.
Maintain a patient, respectful, and encouraging demeanor that supports the student’s communication style and learning needs.
