JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : High school graduate required. Minimum of one year of billing experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Applicants without experience but with business training will be considered. Experience : Preferably previous healthcare billing and follow-up experience. At least one year of computer data entry experience is required. Ability to work under deadline pressure. Good communication skills with all age groups, especially the geriatric population. Physical : This is a safety-sensitive position. Refer to the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for details. Normal office environment. Vision must be corrected to 20/20. Hearing normal and soft tones. Ability to sit for 7-8 hours/day, stand, walk, handle objects, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and view computer screens for extended periods. May be exposed to airborne particles. Occasional stress due to workload and customer interactions. JOB SUMMARY
The patient account representative is responsible for the accurate and timely collection of claims from third-party payers and patients, coding and entering charges, posting payments, arranging payment plans, providing cost estimates, and updating patient accounts. The role requires prompt responses to inquiries from payers and patients. It involves high contact with patients, staff, physicians, and community members. Attendance is essential.
