The Opportunity In this role, you will design and build analytics solutions that deliver significant business value. You will collaborate with data and analytics professionals, management, and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements align with business needs. Key responsibilities include creating scalable data models and solutions that support the entire data asset lifecycle.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) using Kimball dimensional methodology.
Design and implement star schemas (facts and dimensions) to support BI and reporting with high performance.
Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), emphasizing SCD Type 2 for historical data capture.
Determine appropriate grain for fact tables and identify measurable facts and relationships to dimensions.
Design highly denormalized dimension structures to reduce joins.
Collaborate with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to align data models with business needs.
Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance.
Manage and provide guidance to a small team of 1–3 resources.
Document and communicate data model designs and standards.
Develop source‑to‑target mapping and ETL/ELT specifications, including SCD Type 2 logic and surrogate key rules.
Stay current with industry best practices and incorporate new techniques.
Guide team on Kimball dimensional modeling techniques.
Utilize industry‑standard data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio) and manage version control.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM.
7+ years of hands‑on experience in data modeling.
Strong knowledge of SQL and Kimball dimensional modeling concepts.
Experience with major enterprise relational databases or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
Proficiency in ETL/ELT architecture, data quality, metadata management.
Mastery of SCD Type 2 implementation (surrogate keys, start/end dates, current flags).
Ability to translate complex business processes into efficient data models.
Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin, Visio, or PowerDesigner.
Experience designing and implementing database structures.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Knowledge of the Hospitality Domain is mandatory.
Cloud certification is an advantage.
Preferred: Azure DP‑203, Spanish/Italian speaking (optional).
