Overview

The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) demonstrates performance consistent with professional forensic nursing standards of practice, care, and performance, the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of the organization. Provides forensic nursing services for all victims of violence/abuse/neglect. Responsible for collecting and preserving forensic evidence while maintaining the chain of custody. Performs forensic examinations for the purpose of forensic injury identification and documentation. Works collaboratively to meet the acute needs of primary and secondary forensic patients by identifying and coordinating services throughout the community.

Work Shift: Per Diem (United States of America)

Salary Range: $71,612.39 - $110,999.20

Responsibilities Perform forensic examinations for the purpose of injury identification and documentation. Collect and preserve forensic evidence with strict chain of custody. Coordinate referrals and services to meet the needs of forensic patients in collaboration with the community.

Required Experience

Minimum 1 year of recent acute care clinical experience as a registered nurse.

Current BLS, required.

NYS SAFE certification required.

Current ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC (or PALS) preferred.

Certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Adults and Adolescent (SANE-A) and Pediatrics (SANE-P) by the International Association of Forensic Nurses highly preferred.

Required Education

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Completion of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner course in accordance with the International Association of Forensic Nurses Education Guidelines required.

Required License

Current NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse.
