Overview

The Associate/Director of Recruitment for In-Person Education at Unity Environmental University is a student-centered, mission-driven position responsible for generating enrollment into the Unity at Pineland program, a bold alternative to traditional residential education built around immersive 5-week terms, hands-on field learning, and a flexible structure. The role requires a strategic leader who understands hands-on, term-based programming and can connect with students seeking alternatives to traditional campus life. Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 Day to day responsibilities Lead, manage, and supervise the in-person recruitment team.

Establish performance metrics, accountability structures, and staff development plans.

Manage recruitment budgets and ensure responsible allocation of resources.

Design and execute inclusive recruitment strategies that increase enrollment and challenge conventional definitions of higher education.

Create recruitment plans informed by funnel data, market research, and trend analysis.

Identify and target new student populations aligned with Unity’s hands-on, flexible model.

Develop innovative outreach models (e.g., mobile recruitment, pop-up advising, workplace partnerships).

Plan and oversee impactful recruitment events that showcase Unity at Pineland.

Lead Discovery Days and on-campus experiences designed to convert prospective students into enrolled learners.

Represent Unity at Pineland at high schools, transfer fairs, community events, and workforce development programs.

Partner with Marketing to ensure messaging resonates with nontraditional and environmentally focused learners.

Build relationships with high schools, transfer pipelines, environmental organizations, and aligned community partners.

Collaborate with Student Success to ensure seamless handoffs for admitted students.

Coordinate with Advancement and Career Services to integrate recruitment and outcomes messaging.

Use enrollment funnel analytics and Salesforce data to drive recruitment decisions.

Monitor student behavior trends and adapt strategies accordingly.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

Associate Director: 1–3 years in admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management.

Director: 3+ years in admissions, with proven experience in recruitment budget oversight and leading recruitment events.

Experience recruiting in modular, accelerated, or alternative education models.

CRM proficiency required, with Salesforce experience strongly preferred.

Territory management experience strongly preferred.

Preference for candidates from tuition-driven institutions.

Proven record of meeting or exceeding recruitment goals.

Knowledge of the regional educational and workforce landscape.

Proven supervisory experience, including staff oversight, scheduling, and performance management.

Passion for environmental education and Unity’s mission.

Deep understanding of contemporary student populations—especially first-gen, adult, transfer, and environmentally conscious learners.

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.

Flexibility to travel, including evenings/weekends as needed.

Ability to obtain a valid ME driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.

Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Maine. Just a half hour from Portland, Unity Environmental University Headquarters, Unity Environmental University Distance Education, Unity @ Pineland, and Sustainable Ventures are based at the Pineland Farms campus. The facilities are near one of the fastest-growing cities for startups in the country. Work Schedule

Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days, evenings, weekends. Working extended hours may be required as needed. Unity Environmental University employees must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities while meeting the institution’s needs. Occasional travel to attend events or work at other Unity locations may be required. Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk and to lift/move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
