Your Specific Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities This Dentist position provides care to pediatric and adult patients, including examination, diagnosis, planning, and treatment, adhering to current State and ADA guidelines. Services include surgical, restorative, and preventive dental treatment for Medicaid-eligible recipients, with eligibility considerations for non-Medicaid patients as outlined in financial guidelines or MOUs/MOAs. Reports to the Putnam County Director of Nursing, Clinical and Dental Services. Responsible for overall clinical operations and day-to-day workflow of the Dental Clinic.
Maintain modern knowledge of general dentistry and dental surgery, including preventive care, oral hygiene, and disease treatment. Obtain medical and dental histories, conduct examinations, provide radiographs, treat infections, perform restorations and extractions, apply anesthetics when needed, and provide patient education. Responsibilities include scaling, root planing, prophylaxis, topical fluoride, and sealants for children. Promote community and school-based dental and health education programs; collaborate with local dental society members and community dental specialists to facilitate care for indigent populations.
Serve as professional leader for the Dental Clinic, engage in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain a positive work environment focused on best practices in care. Ensure compliance with infection control, instrument sterilization, hazardous waste, and radiation safety protocols. Assist in maintaining and updating program manuals and participate in ongoing professional education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of conditions within the human cavity and adjacent tissues.
Ability to provide clinical records review, ensure adherence to clinical policies, provide instruction, plan and direct the work of clinical personnel, and coordinate the dental program.
Ability to manage equipment, maintain records, prepare reports, and oversee financial and operational aspects of the Putnam DOH Dental Program.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Licensure as a Dentist, with pediatric experience. DOH experience.
Preferred
- Eaglesoft Dental Software proficiency.
