Manage IT projects for the department, including contracted projects and special projects. This position is primarily teleworked and is based out of Anchorage or Juneau. We have an office space in both locations and a scheduled "hoteling" space for staff who need/want to work in the office, with a cubicle, monitors and a docking station for your laptop. The work environment is friendly, professional, and collaborative. Who We Are Looking For
Systems Analysis/Design: Ability to interview business experts to determine processes and needs and design a system to implement those processes and solutions. Project Management: Experience in managing IT projects, including planning, execution, and completion. Technical Writing: Effectively documents requirements, solutions, and processes for varied audiences (technical, business, management, etc.). Stakeholder Coordination: Ability to coordinate project priorities and deliverables, ensuring effective collaboration among team members. Self-Management: Sets well-defined, realistic goals; demonstrates initiative, effort, and commitment; works with minimal supervision; strives for timely completion. Six years of computer programming experience, with at least two years at the project leader or systems design level. This is equivalent to an Analyst/Programmer 4 with the State of Alaska. Two years of experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty. The specialized experience may be gained concurrently. Substitution
A bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with 18 semester or 24 quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associate’s degree in CS or CIS may substitute for nine months of the required experience. There is no substitute for the systems analysis and design or project leadership experience. Special Note
An applicant who is considered under the substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class if the applicable coursework is completed within three months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty. Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
