Senior Physician Assistant – Neuro Oncology
UC San Diego – Moores Cancer Center, 100% career appointment. Pay Scale: $77.07–$101.52 per hour (annual full pay range $160,922–$211,974, prorated if less than 100%). Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8‑hour shifts. 1 opening, hire date contingent on successful licensure and credentialing. Apply by 11/7/2025.
Responsibilities The Senior Physician Assistant in Neuro Oncology will provide direct patient care in the outpatient oncology and infusion setting, perform intrathecal (IT) chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, and other procedures for the leptomeningeal disease program. The role includes patient and family education, interdisciplinary collaboration, policy development, and research participation. The PA will assess and manage routine and complex oncology patients, initiate antineoplastic therapy orders, perform procedures such as paracentesis, bone‑marrow biopsy, skin biopsy, and lumbar puncture, and triage oncologic emergencies. The PA will develop and expand clinical responsibilities to meet evolving patient and system needs. The position requires collaboration with on‑site physicians and a focus on quality patient outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an ARC‑PA accredited physician assistant program.
California PA license.
Current NCCPA certification.
ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS at hire with commitment to obtain ART within 6 months.
One or more years of outpatient oncology experience.
Proficiency in performing history, physical examination, and developing treatment plans.
Knowledge of diagnostic tests, procedures, and accurate chart documentation.
Ability to manage own patient load in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
Oncology certification.
ER and/or urgent‑care experience.
Special Conditions
Flexible hours and locations as business needs dictate.
Must obtain and maintain UCSD Medical Staff privileges; advanced‑practice experience within last 2 years required.
