What To Expect The ideal candidate has experience in performing general, preventative and emergency maintenance of facilities equipment as well as strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing and process systems operation and maintenance.
What You’ll Do
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and systems at the Tesla Gigafactory facility.
Perform general maintenance duties, preventive maintenance, trouble calls, and emergency maintenance as needed.
Calibrate and repair instruments and associated equipment.
Work with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes.
Support the controls group in troubleshooting, upgrading and new installation of systems.
Measure levels, pressures, temperatures, flow, and analytical process testing instrumentation and control systems; maintain test equipment.
Consult manuals, read and interpret circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
Repair and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts; install control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment.
Work on projects throughout the entire facility, connecting devices and using lifts and ladders, continuing to perform equipment repairs and similar duties that require no oversight or direction; use complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems.
What You’ll Bring
Technical degree in Electrical/Electronic or Instrumentation or equivalent experience.
Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meter, and testing equipment.
Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings.
Strong knowledge in troubleshooting motor controls, drives, and electronic components; good understanding of VFDs and PLCs.
Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of management; high degree of initiative; ability to work alone and effectively with others.
Essential Physical Demands
Perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
Stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including on varied and uneven terrain.
Lift, push, and carry up to 35 lbs., including carrying 20 lbs. up and down stairs.
Bend, lift, and reach to install parts.
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day.
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures.
Use sight, touch, and hearing to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhere to prescribed safety rules and guidelines.
