Position Phlebotomist (Job Code: CVDJP00029443) Location Murrieta, CA Schedule 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Shifts are 8 hours long, starting as early as 6:00 AM and closing as late as 6:00 PM. Duration Projected duration: 3 months. Type Contract position with potential for permanent. Pay Rate $23 per hour. Benefits Benefits are available. Float position; may need to travel to other locations within a 15‑20 mile radius. Requires a clean driving record. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and updating patient information. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear yet courteous manner. Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands all physician orders, matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test orders. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness. Packages specimens for transport and stores them at the required temperature, placing samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and labeling accurately. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations, attends annual department trainings, answers telephone calls, and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
