Overview
Phlebotomy Technician - Hastings, MN, Monday, Thursday, Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotational weekends
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for accurately performing and processing Point of Care Testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children and all related functions.
Pay
Pay range: $23.00 - $28.00 / hour
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
Essential Generic Job Functions
- Collects blood and/or performs POC as assigned
- Cleans and re-stocks POC supplies and prepares phlebotomy carts/trays
- Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing
- Draws venous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric patients using proper aseptic techniques
- Draws and delivers (where applicable) all blood work (stat, timed, routine) within established departmental policy time frames
- Draws venous and capillary blood into proper tubes and culture vials according to testing purpose
- Performs and processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics
- Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents
- Reports incidents/issues regarding patients or employees timely to group leader or supervisor
- Reports supply needs and equipment defects in a timely fashion
- Logs refrigerator temperatures daily and reports out-of-range findings to group leader or supervisor
- Travels and performs phlebotomy duties and POC testing at health fairs and PSA testing sites as needed and delivers specimens to laboratory
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and adapts care to those needs, communicating with patients/parents/primary caregivers at their level
- Adheres to the standards identified in the clinics’ Organizational Competencies
Qualifications
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
