Job Details

The incumbent will serve as a mobile technician, performing on‑the‑job and classroom training in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the product line. This role requires upholding the company’s safety commitments, diagnosing equipment issues, and restoring equipment to working order through component replacement or repair.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Complete on‑the‑job and classroom training in the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the product line and associated repair/service procedures.
• Uphold Columbus Equipment Company safety commitment and any customer safety requirements.
• Determine overall condition of machines through inspections and provide maintenance.
• Diagnose issues with hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Restore equipment to working order through component replacement and/or repair.
• Exhibit positive and effective communication with associates, vendors, and customers.
• Maintain current record‑keeping, parts ordering/inventory, basic contract provisions, and customer invoicing.
• Use operator and parts & maintenance manuals to determine procedures and identify parts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years prior experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.
• Experience with truck‑mounted hydraulic utility equipment (e.g., aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes) and construction/mining/farm equipment.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
• Strong history of superior interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in computer and software use.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical Requirements

• Pass a Pre‑Employment Criminal Background screening and DOT Drug Test.
• Physical effort required to move objects and service tools up to 75 lbs; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
• Current valid driver’s license; ability to pass periodic physical examinations as required.
• Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
• Use of computers and office machines.
• Proper and safe use of hand and power tools.
