Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete on‑job and classroom training in the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components of the product line and repair/service procedures to succeed as a mobile technician.
  • Uphold safety commitments for Columbus Equipment Company and customers.
  • Determine overall machine condition through inspections and provide maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues with hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Restore equipment to working order through component replacement and/or repair.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, vendors and customers.
  • Maintain records, parts ordering/inventory, warranty provisions and customer invoicing.
  • Use operators and parts & maintenance manuals to determine procedures and identify parts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.
  • Experience with truck‑mounted hydraulic utility equipment, construction, mining, farm equipment or military heavy equipment, aircraft/gaseous support equipment, etc.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent human‑relations skills.
  • Proficient computer and software skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical Requirements

  • Pass pre‑employment criminal background screening and DOT drug test.
  • Physical effort to move objects and service tools up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting and kneeling.
  • Current valid driver’s license; ability to pass periodic physical examinations.
  • Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Required to use computers and office machines.
  • Must use hand and power tools safely.
