Position Summary
The Advance Practice Professional (APP) is an individual with clinical/surgical urology expertise. The APP completes comprehensive patient health evaluations, coordinates care, participates in peri‑operative care, educates students, and manages urology patients throughout the system.
Location 20 Medical Park Suite 201, Wheeling, WV.
Minimum Qualifications (Nurse Practitioner)
Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and Advanced Practice RN in West Virginia.
American Heart Association BLS Certification; Advanced Life Support training at discretion of the department.
Experience
Clinical/surgical urology experience preferred.
Eligible new graduates considered.
Preferred Qualifications (Physician Assistant)
Bachelor’s Degree as Physician Assistant or Master’s Degree required.
Graduate of an ARC‑PA approved PA training program.
Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.
Licensed or eligible for licensure by WV Board of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
American Heart Association BLS; Advanced Life Support training at discretion of the department.
Preferred: Master’s level degree as PA.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Manage comprehensive and individualized care for urology patients inpatient, post‑discharge, and ambulatory.
Complete daily rounds; consult and pre‑procedure evaluations.
Perform integrated assessments and participate in peri‑operative management.
Order tests/consults per established guidelines.
Communicate diagnostic results and abnormal findings.
Facilitate discharge planning and coordinated follow‑up.
Perform necessary urological procedures per guidelines.
Provide education to patients, families, staff, residents, and students.
Mentor nursing personnel, participate in community programs, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
Document care in the medical record per policies.
Participate in performance improvement and research activities.
Physical Requirements Requires strength and stamina to lift, move, stoop, reach, and carry up to 40 + pounds.
Working Environment Close collaboration with others; may involve irregular hours and biohazards.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with computers.
Strong communication skills.
Schedule 40 hours per week, exempt.
