Overview
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations (assembly and/or machining) including quality control functions, control plan compliance, quality testing, and quality audits for all production shifts. The candidate should monitor process compliance, identify emerging issues, communicate promptly, and develop containment strategies to protect the customer. The role leads all quality audits (torque, functional, dock audit) to support the quality system. Specific Roles & Responsibilities
First responder to floor quality calls. Oversee manufacturing floor and monitor processes to ensure quality. Supervise hourly on the off shift (dyno and gauge). Respond to potential quality issues and gather critical information to assess whether downstream customer impact is present. Develop initial containment strategy for emerging issues; quarantine components/engines as necessary to stop the flow of defects to the customer. Work with production operations to quickly determine the dirty/clean points and release any conforming material. Engage other plant resources (Resident Engineering, Supplier Quality, Plant Engineering) for quality control issues to help determine the potential scope of the problem. Work with Resident Engineering for disposition of non-conforming material. Issue, request, and approve process deviations as necessary and push for closure. Manage the activities of the 3rd party inspection at the end of line & on the outbound shipping dock; ensure corporate standards are followed. Attend production meetings and ensure clear communication handoffs from shift to shift. Ensure part cleanliness checks are completed per requirements and actions are taken per corporate standards. Ensure EMP validations are performed per corporate standards. Issue Temporary Tolerance Waivers as appropriate when resident or product engineering is not available for approval. Manage/directly supervise functional and torque auditors. Ensure daily audits are completed per corporate requirements for Functional and Torque Audits. Ensure functional audit severities L10 or above have QEWO issued for correction with assigned leader. Ensure torque audit failures have QEWO issued for correction. Manage quarantines / lot release. Manage quarantine follow-up through repairs, testing and release; responsible for record management and release of quarantines. Document quality issue resolutions, testing/inspection activities to support the release of quarantine; follow corporate standards. Keep track of the number of parts affected and who authorized release / TSA (RE). Set up short-term countermeasures for nonconforming conditions found, or when the customer is at risk. Provide quality documentation as required (e.g., Quality Alerts). Compile FTC/FTQ information as required (daily and monthly). Maintain current and accurate data for quarantines and repairs. Populate data for Hot Sheet, FTC/FTQ, quarantine, dock audit, functional audit, torque audit, dyno/lot release, EMP, and cleanliness data for daily plant reporting. Dock Audit: release engines from quarantine after repairs are performed. Enter SharePoint requests for FA Auditor assignments. Review and approve SWI or SOP in MQAS for machining or assembly. Maintain certifications for torque auditors and FA auditors, and elsewhere as required. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of Stellantis Production Way (SPW). Experience in the design, testing, manufacture or assembly of powertrains and related components. Experience supervising hourly team members in a UAW environment. Training/certification in problem-solving methodologies. Language: bilingual verbal and written capability in English and Spanish. Statistical process control knowledge and background. Demonstrated knowledge and application of error and mistake proofing controls. Must be able to work afternoon shift. Must be able to work overtime as needed to support production schedule. Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree or higher in Science or Business. Experience in the design, testing, manufacture or assembly of powertrains and related components. Process Sign-Off. Dimensional Layout / GD&T. Experience supervising hourly team members in a UAW environment. Greenbelt / Black Belt certification. Language: bilingual verbal and written capability in English and Spanish.
