Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer at our Coatesville, Pennsylvania operation. This role is essential in maintaining and enhancing the performance, reliability, and safety of critical production equipment through the implementation of predictive, preventive, and emergency maintenance strategies. As part of a dynamic engineering team, the Maintenance Engineer will analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. You will also be involved in the design, modification, and modernization of plant equipment and systems to meet evolving production demands.

Summary of Responsibilities

Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment

Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, re-design, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment

Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action

Participate in planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports

Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement

Various other projects as needed to support the business

Monitors and tracks line equipment availability and operating efficiency issues and creates "pareto" type analysis to identify key equipment problems / failures areas

Performs root cause analysis to determine equipment failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures

Updates drawings, coordinates with equipment suppliers and outside engineering to specify design requirements for new / modified equipment to improve operating performance and / or equipment reliability

Coordinates the establishment of requirements, standards, and procedures for the equipment inspection, works closely with departmental inspectors and with the non-destructive testing / predictive technologies group for the proper, timely inspection testing of equipment

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Technical field or combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in steel production or a related industry
