The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and developing programs to promote a safe working environment. The right individual will have a thorough understanding of EHS – Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements including regulatory and compliance.
The EHS Engineer will be working in our Manufacturing Plant and will need to be familiar with today’s current manufacturing techniques and possess forklift train-the-trainer experience. We embrace a safe, clean and hazard free manufacturing work environment.
Lead all EHS requirements as an example for others to follow.
Create a culture of awareness, acceptance & adherence to the EHS requirements.
Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
Scheduling routine inspections and implementing training according to findings.
Assist in maintaining appropriate Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial and Process Safety Programs and necessary related training.
Audit, analyze and EHS performance data and propose effective improvements.
Perform facility audits, surveys and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies or process improvement.
Manage SDS data - ensure safety in material handling.
Proactively meets Jabil EH&S requirements to reduce exposure and control risk.
EHS Project management skills and ability to close out projects on time.
Attend training and seminars - then deliver training to staff in Facility
Track compliance of the various Federal, State and Local environmental requirements.
Assist with preparation of EPA and OSHA requirements up to but not limited to OSHA 300 log, RCRA, storm water / wastewater, Large Quantity Generator Hazardous WASTE as well as Air Emissions annual inventory report.
Develop and implement training for all personnel to assure understanding and compliance of EH&S programs and environmental permit conditions.
Assist with chemical and hazardous waste management
Other duties as assigned.
Experience
2-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in manufacturing is desired.
Forklift experience.
Hoist, Crane & Rigging experience is desired.
Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA compliance standards, as well as regulations related to storm water / wastewater, RCRA, Air Emissions reporting and other federal, state and local laws.
Must have knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA and HAZWOPER requirements.
Experience in risk management, ergonomics, personnel protective equipment, industrial safety, injury and incident investigation, reporting, auditing and training.
Knowledge and ability to implement process improvements and programs.
Ability to read and interpret training related documents for both office and production environments such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to exercise exceptional independent judgment and discretion with the ability to take initiative on assigned tasks without significant supervision or be a successful member of a team.
Systematic thinking ability and strong liaison and management skills.
Excellent presentation, delivery, and facilitation skills; ability to engage an audience.
Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports in charts, graphs, and table format.
Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals at all levels within a multicultural environment and with outside agencies, vendors, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated skills in database maintenance and record keeping
Strong understanding of Environmental compliance systems
Detail oriented
Preferred qualifications
Forklift Train-the-Trainer experience is desired
Experienced with EHSIP and SAP preferred
Knowledge of ISO14001, ISO45001 & RBA is preferred
