Position Summary The Department of Health Science, College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama seeks candidates to serve as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Epidemiology.

Detailed Position Information This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in epidemiology (face-to-face and/or online). The selected candidate will also be expected to provide service to the University, profession, and community, and perform other duties as assigned.

The Department of Health Science comprises 24 full-time faculty members whose research and teaching interests span a variety of areas that center on improving the health and well-being of individuals, communities, populations, and the environment. The Department hosts over 700 majors enrolled in its degree programs, including the BS in Public Health, Master of Public Health, MA in Health Studies, PhD in Health Education and Promotion, and MS in Athletic Training. Minimum Qualifications

Earned a doctorate degree in health education, health promotion, public health, epidemiology, or a closely related field at the time of employment.

Graduate degree and/or concentration in epidemiology.

Ability to engage in research and scholarly activities and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, although teaching is the primary focus.

Teaching experience and demonstrated potential for success in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses.

Proficiency in epidemiology.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience.

Previous health education/public health experience.

Professional association involvement.

Record of community engagement.

Previous experience with the CEPH accreditation process.

Public health or health education-related certification (e.g., CPH, CHES®, MCHES®).
