and evaluation of existing structures in a whole new way. Our growing Structural Engineering Department is seeking a qualified Engineer to
lead
our inspection teams. Geosyntec has a very diverse set of clients with a broad spectrum of projects that may involve bridges, dams, industrial processing and power facilities, heavy-civil construction, erection and controlled demolition engineering, earth retaining structures, harbors, piers, and wharfs. The primary role is to serve as a structural inspector, with opportunities to contribute to evaluations (load rating) and design of repairs/retrofits/replacements. Structural Team Leader for Inspections Structural Condition Assessments Bridge Load Rating Retrofit Design and Repair Detailing Provide quality control of construction documents Assisting and Training Early and Mid-Career professionals in condition assessments and repair/retrofit design Contribute as required as a designer/analyst Structural value engineering, third party design and constructability review, and risk assessment Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed Education and Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus (required) Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) (preferred) Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) (preferred) Professional registration as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) (preferred) Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 5 years (7+ preferred) directly relevant experience in a design environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required) Minimum 2 years experience serving as a team leader or primary structural inspector (required) Experience in the inspection of concrete, timber, and steel structures (required) Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete, steel, and timber structures (required) Registered Bridge Inspection Team Leader (preferred) Successful completion of FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course (preferred) Bridge Load Rating experience (preferred) Ability to sit for the NCEES 20-Hour Structural Engineering exam within two years of hire (preferred) Knowledge of relevant structural engineering design and detailing software (AASHTOWare, RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA, etc.) (required) Knowledge of design collaboration software (Bluebeam Studio) and operation of CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) (preferred) Experience working within the construction sector or performing design work for contractors/construction managers (preferred) Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines (required) Current OSHA 10-hour training (preferred) Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required) Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization. New H-1B visa lottery and employment-based green card sponsorship are not available for this position. This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Compensation ranges are provided in good faith for roles in the specified locations: Chicago, IL; Oak Brook, IL; Denver, CO; Acton, MA. Base salary ranges for Chicago/Oak Brook and Denver: $89,605–$134,465 per year; Acton, MA: $98,140–$147,275 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set, and location.
