You Are The Senior Telecommunications Engineer / Technical Advisor serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This position provides senior‑level technical and advisory oversight for the design, testing, integration, and sustainment of telecommunications networks and systems across a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee and participate in the design, testing, upgrade, and integration of new or existing telecommunication networks, systems, and equipment in accordance with the organization’s business requirements.

Plan and lead major technology assignments as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.

Work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects.

Document all aspects of the engineering process related to build, configuration, testing, and deployment of telecommunication networks, systems, and equipment.

Coordinate changes such as implementation of new telecommunication networks, systems, and equipment, upgrades, or version increments to existing networks, systems, and equipment with stakeholders.

Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard telecommunication networks, systems, and equipment.

Perform telecommunications modeling, analysis, and planning; coordinate with architecture and evaluate new and emerging technologies and make recommendations for product selection.

Manage Change Control Board SharePoint site and workflow.

Provide technical and planning expertise to assist senior leadership in shaping and achieving the organization's strategic vision, operational and tactical goals.

The Team Lawelawe Defense Inc. (LDI) is an SBA Certified 8(a) Native Hawaiian Owned (NHO) SDB. LDI has an outstanding record of delivery on projects encompassing program and portfolio management; systems engineering and architecture; network engineering and operations; data center optimization and operations; and desktop/server and application virtualization.

Here’s What You Need

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related field.

Knowledge of cabling standards, OSP/ISP, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and DHA Facilities Enterprise (DHA‑FE) criteria and standards.

Experience with conduit verification, OSP planning, and OSP technologies such as aerial and direct bury.

Knowledge of Structured Cabling, BICSI TIA/EIA 568 and specifically TIA 1179 standards.

Ability to read engineering diagrams for buildings and cable plant.

Skilled in applying systems design tools, methods, and techniques, including automated systems analysis and design tools; systems design standards, policies, and authorized approaches; and systems design precedents or alternative approaches.

Knowledge of system testing and evaluation principles, methods, and tools; IT security principles and methods; requirement analysis principles and methods.

Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve issues through coordination with clients, vendors, and facilities personnel.

Security+ certification.

Current certifications such as COPT, CCNA, CCTT, CNCDP, or CEP.

Active Secret clearance required.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Additional Qualifications

Knowledge of fiber splicing.

Experience with construction planning and scheduling.

Intermediate to advanced skill with MS Excel, including complex formulas to manipulate OSP/ISP data storage; solid understanding of database structure.

Experience with deployment and sustainment of information networks such as LANs.

Knowledge of WLAN, intranets, extranets, and other communications networks.

Knowledge of network performance monitoring, capacity analysis, and security posture.

Knowledge of CAD software.

Project management experience, including use of MS Project.
