Overview GEICO is seeking a Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they use their technologies in managing GEICO's business. The role requires a strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to engage with the Business to drive capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet business goals. The Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of Finance Data & Analytics and will help build, maintain, and support a Finance Data repository to support FP&A processing and analytics and the broader Finance organization's data needs. This role aims to provide a reconciled source of truth for Financial transactions and to support FP&A Planning/Budgeting, financial reporting, revenue/expense analytics, and related data warehouse development.

Responsibilities

Leverage strong functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future Finance needs

Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle

Support design sessions with peers to ensure well-designed, efficient systems that meet business expectations

Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering and Finance Technology leaders to align on goals

Develop a vision and technology roadmap for a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse

Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT)

Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions

Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent)

Roadmap Revenue and Expense analytics initiatives and implement solutions

Engage stakeholders to align expectations and outcomes

Support governance frameworks and SOX/audit requirement adherence

Contribute to business and technology discussions to align with long-term Finance and Technology goals

Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications

Share best practices and improve processes across teams

Qualifications

15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft)

3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred)

3+ years working with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and related Financial Reporting tools

Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling

Experience with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.)

Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, debug, and optimize queries and ETL jobs

Experience with Financials via vendors (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP)

Finance domain expertise to translate process and functional needs into system solutions

Understanding of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting

Experience implementing or supporting Revenue/Expense analytics via Power BI, Tableau, etc.

Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations

Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance

Project management knowledge, methodologies, and best practices

Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of software development life cycle

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary $115,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Final offer based on factors including scope of role, experience, education, location, and market considerations.
