Overview
Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) role at GEICO. This position supports the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they manage GEICO's business data. The role requires a strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to drive the capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet business goals. Responsibilities
Leverage strong functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet Finance and GEICO’s current and future needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle Participate in design sessions with peers to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations Collaborate with Finance Leaders within FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering and Finance Technology to align on goals Help establish a vision and technology roadmap for a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT) Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent) Develop roadmaps and implement Revenue and Expense analytics solutions Engage with customers and stakeholders to align expectations and influence outcomes Support the implementation of a governance framework for SOX and Audit requirements Participate in discussions at multiple levels to align Finance and Technology long-term goals Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes across teams Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft) 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (Preferred) 3+ years working with Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and related Financial Reporting tools Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Strong knowledge of data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) SQL proficiency to write, debug, and optimize queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financial systems across major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS/Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to translate processes into system solutions Understanding of FP&A Budgeting, Planning, and forecasting processes Experience in Revenue or Expense analytics using tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc. Understand accounting processes and reporting expectations to partner with Finance teams Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Project management knowledge and best practices Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Experience with software development life cycle Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education/experience Annual Salary
$115,000.00 - $260,000.00 Notes
