As an Associate in the Public Finance Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team, you will play a key role in structuring and executing market-based solutions for municipalities and non-profits. You’ll work closely with sales & trading, underwriting, derivatives, and banking teams, gaining exposure to all aspects of the capital markets while driving impactful transactions and client pitches.
Job responsibilities
Develop products that meet evolving needs of issuers and investors
Drive deal process and provide oversight for select bond products
Evaluate issuer debt portfolios for refunding/restructuring opportunities
Produce compelling analytics for clients
Facilitate high quality market content
Assist in RFP responses and transaction execution
Develop financial models using Excel for customized bond structures
Execute a variety of financial transactions, across products, sectors and the credit spectrum
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
5 years of previous Public Finance experience at an investment bank required
Experienced structurer in fixed income products, including derivatives
Strong work ethic, academic strength
Exhibits effective teamwork and communication skills, high energy level, and a genuine passion for excellence
Ability to multi-task, flexibility, assertiveness
Processes new information quickly and effectively; interest in Public Finance clients & industry
Strong verbal and written skills; excellent project manager; concise presenter
Works well under pressure in a demanding environment, producing accurate, detailed materials while meeting tight deadlines
Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg
Undergraduate degree from a competitive university is required
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Advanced degree in finance, economics, or related field
Experience with municipal market analytics and regulatory initiatives
Familiarity with private placements, tenders/exchanges, and client risk management frameworks
Ability to create innovative solutions and drive product development
