Overview
Located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Blue Mound Golf and Country Club was founded in 1903 and has become one of the top private clubs in Wisconsin. The Club has an 18-hole Golf Course, Members Grill, Main Dining and Ball Room, two Member bars and two outdoor Patios overlooking the Golf Course. The Club has over 350 Members and gross revenues of $7.5 million. Blue Mound Golf and Country Club has been providing its members with an excellent golfing experience for over 100 years. The club has 18 challenging holes, an elegant clubhouse, fine dining and a variety of social activities along with a dedicated staff. The atmosphere is designed to encourage the kind of satisfying golf and rewarding social experiences found in the country\'s finest clubs. Once Members and their guests have experienced Blue Mound, they will consider it their "home away from home." Our historic golf course, designed by the acclaimed Seth Raynor, was the first in Wisconsin to host a golf major: the 1933 PGA Championship, won by Gene Sarazen. Mr. Raynor\'s masterpiece is maintained at the highest levels; with greens and fairways in pristine condition. BLUE MOUND INFORMATION: 273 Golf Members, 34 National Golf Members Annual Rounds: 15k – 16k Equipment: Largely Toro Irrigation System: Toro Osmac (2009) Pump Station: Watertronics (2021) Irrigation Water Source: Deep Well (2009) Greens Committee Chair: Typically a three-year term Greens Speed Expectations: The Membership expects fast and firm greens Practice Facilities: Short Game Practice area and low mow bluegrass practice tee (2021) Grass Types: Bent/Poa for greens, predominantly bent for fairways and tees, bluegrass roughs 2024 Course Renovation: New bunkers and bunker surrounds, green and fairway expansions, additional tee builds Weekdays: 7:30 a.m. / Weekends: 7:00 a.m. Department

Oversee two full-time Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Manager, Grounds Staff including seasonal. Position Type
Exempt Full-Time Working Relationship
Works closely with the General Manager, Golf Professionals and Pro Shop Staff, Clubhouse Manager, the Controller, two full-time Accounting Assistants, Membership Communications and Events Manager, and Facilities Maintenance Engineer. Also works with Board of Directors, Club President, Greens and Grounds Chair, and Greens and Grounds Committee. Skills and Competencies
History of providing exceptional golfing conditions Provide consistent and firm and fast greens and fairways throughout the golf season Track record of maintaining & improving course conditions Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards) Develop a plan for tree maintenance and management Stay current with new technologies and peer groups Strong organizational and time management skills Demonstrated leadership and management skills Strong team player Proficient in Microsoft Word and extremely savvy with Excel Professional work ethic Detailed oriented with an eye for accuracy Solid communication skills, both verbal and written Proven integrity and honesty Spanish language skills is a bonus Committed to professional growth and development, for self and staff Job Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will either be a successful Golf Course Superintendent at a club known for exceptional playability or be viewed as an up and coming “superstar” with a minimum of 5 years experience. Be familiar and follow Club’s policies and procedures that are relevant to your specific position or as a general employee of the Club, as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Has a proactive and ongoing involvement with recruiting full-time and seasonal department employees An active and robust approach to employee training Have a good understanding of classic golf course architecture and work closely with club retained course architect advisor on club’s Seth Raynor restoration projects and potential future course projects Visible and available to Members and staff Possess a strong understanding of local, similar, or more challenging climates Strong understanding of soil science Experienced maintaining native/fescue roughs Evaluate irrigation system and programming Oversee all Club landscaping Experience managing trees for both tree health and shade mitigation Manage golf course maintenance equipment upkeep, repair and replacement Humble and flexible personality type Self-starter Compassionate, motivated leader Excellent time management skills Strong budgeting skills Continual education is essential Lead regularly scheduled Greens and Grounds Committee meetings Maintain open dialog and build excellent relationships with Club’s General Manager, Golf Professionals and other Members of the Club’s Executive Staff. Be active and attend Club’s Executive Management team meetings. Perform other duties as needed that are assigned by the General Manager Please apply for this position as soon as possible but no later than November 7, 2025.
