Macomb Country Club, established in 1917, is an 18-hole private golf club located in Macomb, IL. Our golf membership of 198 members plays approximately 14,000 rounds annually. Amenities include an 18-hole golf course with complete golf shop, driving range, swimming pool, Pickleball Courts, and Restaurant.
The Superintendent is responsible for the entire golf course, club grounds, and maintenance operation. Applicant must be a self‑motivated problem solver and a team leader. Expertise in personnel management/scheduling/training/supervision and proven leadership is required. Ability to prioritize golf course needs and projects and complete them in a timely manner. The Golf Course Superintendent will work to create an environment where staff are involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, other employees, members, guests, and Macomb Country Club. The Golf Course Superintendent works closely with the General Manager, Golf Shop, and Club Board of Directors to establish and meet desired goals and to provide golfers with an exceptional golf experience.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf and overall playing conditions and the facility grounds.
Recruits, supervises, and retains maintenance crew and conducts employee evaluations.
Maintains the golf course to excellent playing conditions as determined by the Board.
Schedules maintenance practices around daily play and outings to minimize disruption to members.
Coordinates daily with the General Manager.
Manages the irrigation system to ensure the golf course is receiving the correct amount of water to provide the best possible playing conditions.
Maintains current certifications and applies said chemicals (pesticides and fertilizer) in compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines.
Develops annual operating budget, plans for maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
Responsible for the maintenance of equipment and golf car fleet.
Attends all Board meetings.
Experience and Qualifications 2-4 years' experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant
Maintain a current chemical spray license for Illinois
Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America or working towards this classification
