Division of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies in the School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking qualified individuals to join as adjunct faculty to deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in the Division of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies. This posting is for individuals who are qualified and interested in teaching for the division, at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
Job Description The Division offers coursework in early childhood, elementary, middle, and secondary education, in curriculum, TESOL, multicultural education, special education, culturally responsive teaching, and in English/Language Arts, natural science, social studies, art, and mathematics.
The School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is continuously seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty teaching positions. The School of Education Mission and Values emphasize social justice and excellence in teaching, research, and practice. The Organizational Structure includes three academic divisions: Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies; Counseling and Educational Psychology; and Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations. Adjunct faculty teaching in the School of Education are responsible for teaching regular courses as assigned by the Division Chairperson. This posting is specific for individuals qualified and interested in teaching for the division of Teacher Education & Curriculum Studies, at either the undergraduate or graduate level. Part Time, not eligible for benefits. Hours will depend on the opportunity. Contracts are generally issued on a semester-by-semester basis.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching regular courses as assigned by the Division Chairperson for undergraduate or graduate level courses within the Division of Teacher Education & Curriculum Studies.
Qualifications
Degree appropriate significant experience/training relevant to the level of class and content area being taught
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to differing backgrounds and culturally-responsive teaching
Familiarity with various online delivery platforms
Experience teaching in P12 schools and/or institutes of higher education (as applicable to the area of interest for adjunct teaching)
An official copy of transcripts showing degree(s) with courses completed, and conferring institution will be required before an official offer is made to the candidate. The University requires that we maintain an official copy of your higher education transcripts. Your appointment is contingent upon verification of your degree.
Anticipated Hiring Range Appointment periods are for the semester with consideration for reappointment. A flat adjunct salary is determined based on level of educational degree held.
